Informercials are a great way to disseminate information out to the public. I am assigning you to make a creative twist in the traditional Infomercial idea, and make an Eco-Mercial by selecting an endangered animal and creating an informational ad about why this animal is going extinct. You can be as creative with this as possible - incorporate music, art, dance, sports, etc if you can. Make it fun!
Here are the requirements:
1) Get into a group of 3-4 people in your class
2) Select an animal on the endangered species list: https://www.worldwildlife.org/species/directory
3) With your group, research and evaluate why this animal is going extinct. What has changed in the ecosystem and food web to create this change?
4) Use the following terms in your eco-mercial: predator, prey, producer, consumer.
Predation is a biological interaction where a predator(a hunting animal) kills and eats its prey (the organism that is attacked). ... In ecology, predators are heterotrophic, getting all their energy from other organisms. This places them at high trophic levels in food webs.

5) With your group, write a script detailing each line of your eco-mercial. Write out what each person will say and do, like a TV script. You will email this to me, including all the names of the people in your group. This script must be 4 pages minimum, double spaced. You must include at least ten references.
6) With your group, you will film a 4 minute commercial discussing the animal you chose and the ecosystem it lives in. Include how the ecosystem has changed, what aspects have impacted the status of the animal, and how that has changed the food web (shown above). If you want, you can model this after commercials you have seen, like Geico or Farmers Insurance. EACH PERSON IN THE GROUP HAS TO SAY AT LEAST ONE LINE, EVEN IF YOU ARE CAMERA-SHY. You will email me the 4 minute video and we will watch them in class.
THIS PROJECT IS DUE ON APRIL 30TH (B DAY), AND MAY 1 (A DAY)
