The MOJH Science Fair will be held February 5th 2018.

ALL 3 Science Fair Options are due February 5th 2018.

Here are the 3 options for Science Fair:

Science Fair Virtual Edition: The Tech Developer:

In this option, you will build a website (using either code or free software at wix.com) based around your biological topic of choice. You will then use the new Google Tour Builder BETA software https://tourbuilder.withgoogle.com/ to create regional, national, and international perspectives of your topic. This is pretty cool – Google is still testing this tech, so you’ll be providing important feedback to Google by using Tour Builder. This project does not cost any money to complete – you can work on it in class using ChromeBooks and before/after school on library computers.

Science Fair Art Edition: The Crafty Creator:

In this option, you will watch one movie from the list below (see end of sheet for complete list). Before watching any documentary, you will bring back a signed parental permission slip so I know your parents approve of your movie selection. I will provide these permission slips once you decide on this track. Then, once you have watched the movie, you will create an art display based on a scientific concept explored in the film. This should be quality work, and will be displayed in a Gallery Walk in the library for at least one week. You will also explain how your art exemplifies the scientific concept in the documentary you chose by writing a one-page summary that will be displayed next to your project. Weber State University art honors students will be judging each project, and will vote on who wins a selection of prizes.

Here are the documentary selections for the Crafty Creator option:

Science Fair Traditional: Old School Glory:

In this option, you will participate in the traditional version of science fair. You will conduct a project based on a biological principle, create a tri-fold poster (must be plain white and 60” x 36” in size) outlining your work in accordance with the scientific method, and then present your project in the MOJH science fair with other students from other classes. You’ll need to provide a tri-fold poster board and the materials you need for your project. If you need something specific, please let me know and I’ll do my best to help. Old School Glory will run as a traditional science fair, very similar to those you may have participated in previously. Weber State University chemistry honors students will be judging each project, and will vote on who wins a selection of prizes.

THE COOL THING ABOUT THIS OPTION IS: If you choose to do the traditional science fair, you may be eligible to compete at the district and Weber State science fairs. You may potentially win scholarships and be able to travel to the national science fair. I would especially recommend this option if you are interested in science as a career and want to showcase your mad skills.
